A circular alternative to the silo tire
Funding of one circular product development trajectory that replaces the silo tire with a better alternative made from recycled tire materials.
What is it about?
On livestock farms across Belgium, worn-out car tires are used to secure tarpaulins covering grass and maize silage. They pose clear environmental and health risks: leaching of harmful substances, the spread of microplastics, and breeding grounds for insects. A better alternative does not yet exist. Green’er funds one team to develop that alternative, made from recycled tire materials, with the farmer as an active partner.
What are we looking for?
Green’er selects one multidisciplinary team to develop a functional, circular alternative to the silo tire through a stage-gated process of 12 to 18 months. Design thinking and active farmer involvement are central. The trajectory runs from scoping to a validated prototype. Funding is released per stage after positive evaluation by the Steering Committee.
Selection process
Submitted applications are assessed by an independent jury based on technical and circular ambition, feasibility of the prototype, design orientation, team quality, and scalability (the full list of criteria is available in the call folder below). The Green’er Steering Committee makes the final decision.
